Chamber Music - Chamber Trio for soprano, flute and piano

"Hear the Angels Sing" (2002) - duration approx 5 minutes

Because of the popularity of the melody "Hear the Angels Sing" in Rosalind Carlson's choral miniature cantata (by that name), the composer decided in 2000 to take out this melody, to modify it, and to arrange it for soprano solo, with piano accompaniment.

Then in 2002, Rosalind added an interesting and beautiful flute obbligato.  In this format, it was nominated as "Song of the Year" in the 2003 Classical Vocal APRA/AMC Awards - recorded by the Carlson Chorale on their CD "Australian Sunrise" produced in 2002.

In this format, the trio is about 5 minutes in duration.

World Premiere Performance:  25th November 2001, at Mt St Benedict Convent Chapel, Pennant Hills, NSW, Australia, performed by Soprano, Margie Lattimore, Flute, Stephanie Harrisson, and Piano, Carole Handley.  This work was recorded on the CD "Australian Sunrise" in 2002, performed by the same artists.

"Hear the Angels Sing" was nominated "Song of the Year" in the Classical APRA/AMC Vocal awards in 2003.
