"Three Australian Landscapes" for piano

1.  "Platypus Prelude" (1994) - duration approx. 4 minutes
2.  "Sun-Dance Rondo" (1995) - duration approx. 8 minutes
3.  "Bird Calls at Sunrise, before the Storm" (in the Australian Bush) (1995) - duration approx. 6 minutes

Inspiration for these three piano pieces came from nature itself.  So from an environmental viewpoint, these works are indeed very Australian.

The book gives the actual inspiration details for each piece under the title "Stimulus Impact"

Then Rosalind herself has written a detailed analysis for each composition which is a great asset for students and teachers.  This information is extremely relevant for the imaginative interpretation and for the understanding in performance of these piano pieces.

Gradings for these piano pieces are "Platypus Prelude" (Grades 6/7), "Sun-Dance Rondo" (Grade 8) and "Bird Calls at Sunrise, before the Storm" (Grade 7).

The "Bird Calls at Sunrise, before the Storm" has been set in the ANZCA (Australian & New Zealand Cultural Arts Ltd) examination Classical Music syllabus at Grade 7.

Also of value is a summary page regarding other areas of musical study for which these pieces can be adapted: for H.S.C. Australian Musicology studies; for H.S.C. Compositional skills; and for Australian Music as a topic.
