"Hear the Angels Sing" (2004) - duration approx. 2 minutes

This string orchestra overture to the miniature cantata "Hear the Angels Sing" was commissioned by PLC Sydney in late 2004.

The overture itself is of 2 minutes duration.  It is written for 1st and 2nd violins and 1st and 2nd cellos.

The composer has skilfully written it, keeping in mind the possible limitation of some string orchestras in schools.

The overture sets the atmosphere for the cantata, and leads naturally and musically into the voicing for the choral entry.

The full cantata can however be performed in it original setting without the overture.
